In many medical applications, the available data are not complete enough to be used as the only source of evident to build a BN.  In addition, purely data-driven approaches cannot always capture the true causal mechanisms. Therefore, we often need to depend on medical domain expertise to develop a BN. The following flowchart illustrates the collaboration between the decision scientist (left part) and the medical domain expert (right part) to build a medical BN.
